The Rift world presents assorted opportunities to fight and kill monsters, team up with other players for curious quests and even go against other players of the opposing faction but that's not all there is to the Rift game. Rift also requires players to select a profession which grants players the ability to regain assorted materials to be used while the course of leveling up or even for trading. The professions are divided between convention or crafting and a player can select a combination of up to 3 professions.
The regain professions on Telara contain mining, foraging or butchery. These are very uncomplicated professions: mining means the removal of metals and assorted gems as players roam the plains; butchery refers to the variety of hides and other animals or beast parts while foraging refers to the convention and variety of plants that have assorted uses in the game.
From the gatherers, the assorted elements of plant, animal or metal resources are then used by crafters to build objects with definite uses. There are 6 crafting professions in total. They are the weaponsmiths, runecrafts, armorsmiths, apothecary, outfitting, and artificing.
The weapons smith plainly creates weapons out of metals. assorted weapons contain bows, axes, rifles and swords. An inevitable convention profession pairing for weapon smiths is mining.
Runecrafting refers to the creation of runes that are stat bonuses for equipment. They whether grant extra assault or defensive power. Armor smithing refers to the creation of armor for defensive purposes. Apothercaries, on the other hand, create potions, flasks, tonics, vials and philters which provide healing and other stat bonuses for characters. They need pairing with foraging and butchery convention professions.
Outfittingis the creation of leather and other connected items out of butchery products while artificing refers to the production of accessories and other items like rings, necklaces and wands.
There are more in depth Rift Professions guides to match the profession to the character soul and class type. Selecting a profession requires some rigorous mental but they are pretty easy to follow. In general, you would want apothecary for rogue, weapon and armor smithing for warriors and so on. While there is no hard and fast rule for pairing professions and souls, there are inevitable hints as some callings render some professions useless. For example, you shouldn't select weaponsmithing for mages or clerics for every inevitable reasons.
As a rough guide, Warriors can pick up mining, weaponsmithing and armorsmithing; Clerics should have artificing, mining and armorsmithing; Rogues work best with outfitting, butchery and mining while Mages excel with foraging, artificing, and mining.
